Engagement from the past

Engagement from the past

The full post of this beautiful engagement session, we started in a industrial area and finished in a beautiful pine forest with the most gorgeous warm sunset light!

Tally Creek afternoon with Fox

Tally Creek afternoon with Fox

A event-full afternoon with Fox.

Fox and I both fell over separately during the session, me in the wet sand and buried one of my cameras, which is why I always have two with me it killed the camera and lens (insurance later fixed this situation for me) and Fox on the bridge which removed a lot of skin and we had to use his singlet as a makeshift bandage. Either incident could have stopped the session but we both soldiered on and were rewarded with great light and beautiful photos. He has since had his hair cut a little shorter so I’m glad that his mama have these as a reminder of this age!

To spend a day with these guys and document along the way was as much fun for me as it was rewarding for them, looking back on the kids growing up they are going to cherish these images!

Styling a shoot

Styling a shoot

Styling a shoot can be a lot of fun and very rewarding if its done correctly. When you decide to collaborate with other people make sure that you all have a similar vision for what the images will look and feel like. Its also a good idea to break up all the components including sourcing the products and evenly divide the workload between all of the participants. No one likes to feel like they did much more work than anyone else!

As the photographer I will always discuss how long the shoot will go for and I’ll make sure that we have a timeline so everyone knows the part that they will be playing on the day. I’ll also discuss what each person would like from the photography and I’ll make sure that each person from the day always has their own personal gallery of images delivered for them to use as they wish.

Having a list to email the crew involved in the day with everyone’s email and social details makes it so much easier to share and tag when using the images.

Emma & Vinny

Emma & Vinny

Earthy tones session.

Emma & Vinny are expecting their first bubba in a few short weeks, a little boy! On the morning of their shoot we arranged to meet at a little spot that is usually quite private as we wanted to get these particular type of shots. When I went to check to make sure the location was good to go there were two guys fishing who looked up at me and I think thought I must have been some sort of ranger (maybe rangers wear big puffer jackets and drink coffee in keep cups?) anyway they grabbed all of their things and left which was amazing! We had the whole area to ourselves and despite the cold at the beginning the sun was warm and the water was surprisingly nice too!
